I was born on March 18, 1946, in Piñeyro, Avellaneda, in the southern area of Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. From the beginning, I forged a path in contemporary art, transitioning from medicine toward a visual exploration that I later integrated into different dimensions of my practice.
Before that, I was interested in medicine, as my family background was connected to that profession. Since 1976, I have trained in workshops with fine arts masters in Buenos Aires, each with different pedagogical approaches. I have received awards and honors and have held numerous exhibitions both in my country and in Spain, where I have lived for the past 24 years.
My book Mónica Rúa en colores was recently published. I continue painting and am currently writing my next book of poems and paintings. I have a wide and varied body of artistic work in my studio.
In addition, I trained as an actress and researched art as a therapeutic tool. I qualified as a therapeutic counselor in addictions, coordinating workshops in various health institutions, always understanding art as a medium.
My first book was Arte-ciencia versus ciencia-arte. My latest book, Mónica Rúa en colores, is an art book that brings together my story and experience, all my visual artworks, as well as poems, texts, and its own curatorial framework. It is now ready to be presented and shared. When the presentation is finalized, I will invite those who wish to participate in the virtual event and provide the relevant information in advance.
